Higher Level Training

One aspect that makes the Naperville Premier Soccer League unique is the ability for teams to select a training option. NPSL has teamed up with British Challenger Sports to provide the best trainers and coaches through their extensive network across Europe and South America. Each year over 3,000 applicants from around the world apply to work for Challenger Sports. All applicants then go through a detailed recruitment process including interviews, coaching sessions, personality checks and background checks before they are selected to work for British Challenger Sports.

From the grass roots level all the way up to the professional level, all staff members live and breathe the game of competitive soccer. All staff members are professionally trained and qualified, each possessing Football Association and/or National Diplomas. Additionally, all staff are knowledgable in first aid procedures, child safety/safe haven courses, nutritional guidelines and injury prevention.

The Challenger Sports staff has spent time studying youth development pathways at professional soccer clubs throughout the UK, Europe and South America. These models have been used to establish the basis of their training philosophy and have designed a curriculum that focuses on the three key phases of soccer development: PLAY-TRAIN-COMPETE.

In addition to providing trainer-led practice sessions, NPSL also offers coaching education classes to all volunteer coaches.
